On Saturday at the IPC, a group formed around enterprise.
We are a new groups so we talked about defining what we mean when we talk about enterprise and permaculture and what we want to do with out time.
Consensus that what we want Is narrow in focus but lots of potential. How can we get this into mainstream business thinking and mainstream business – language is an issue – are there overlaps already in business theory and practice – like social entrepreneurship and sustainable business. What are the low hanging fruits within business theory already?
Whats crucially missing from business theory that permaculture can offer? i.e. what will add value to business? And also bring permaculture forward
Feedback and links with the other groups:
In Education group we talked about training focussed on development sector – because we're a design discipline so training in that world would be exciting. We also talked about PDC for business. Language being important.
Climate change group – how do we reach business? How do we dpeak the language of the UN and other orgs who need perm so we need to learn their language
This was brought up at the conference too.... no one knows what permaculture is although they narrow it to mainstream business
How do we interpret practices that already exist within the theory and what we should be wary of being green-washed by them. [Green washing is when business try to create a superficial image of being green to appeal to consumers or to hide poor practices]
How can we generate enterprises from waste? No waste model.
