From Saturday at the IPC *** GROUP 7 - Climate change and refugee issues
The UN and other agencies have plans to regenerate land, millions of hectares, we should get in on this but there's a language problem, how do we know where to go and what to do ? There is a climate change permaculture working group and proposal – 'form global group that could address this in a coherent manner, bring together research, cross sector communications, website with best practice and resources, etc. etc. '
Great to find out what others are doing and not reinvent the wheel.
We hope to come out with a statement that everyone could agree with and interested in get everyone's feedback on this.
Education group should be talking to you about layers and stacking in terms of massive areas of degraded land.
The climate change working group is part of next big steps process – it formed in preparation of this process at convergence. Pandora Thomas is part of this too and Rafter Sass-Ferguson, and Starhawk. We are discussing how to expand this, keep it going and make it representative of the groups most impacted by climate change and those who don't have access to online communications and can't come to convergences.
A lot of the proposals are time sensitive, we need a network related to disaster relief – mobilise troops to help with disaster with speed, for example. ****

This group were often too busy working to report back. They created an amazing statement on permaculture that was adopted by the General Assembly and will be presented at the COP (big meeting on Climate change in Paris in November/December 2015).
